copy trading

verify the trader, then copy the trade.

Copy trading moves the decision to someone else. It does not move the risk. Before you mirror anyone on fomo.family, the one check worth doing is the cheapest: find out which wallets the handle actually controls, and read them yourself.

how to check a trader in four steps

  1. 01

Find the wallet behind the handle

A leaderboard name is not an identity. Search the handle on FomoScan and you get the Solana and EVM addresses that trader actually controls — each one a verified match, never a guess. If we cannot prove an address belongs to them, we leave it out.

  2. 02

Read the position, not the pitch

Once you have the wallet you can check it on-chain yourself: what they hold right now, when they bought, and whether they are still in the trade they are posting about. A screenshot is a claim; the chain is the record.

  3. 03

    Check who follows who

FomoScan indexes the follower graph, so you can see whether a trader is genuinely followed by people you rate, or whether the audience appeared overnight. Concentrated, sudden follower growth is worth a second look.

  4. 04

Size the position before you copy it

Copying a trader does not copy their balance sheet, their entry price, or their risk tolerance. A position that is 1% of their portfolio can be 40% of yours. Decide your size from your own account, not from theirs.

what copy trading does not protect you from

  • You are copying the exit too late

By the time a trade is visible, posted and copied, the person you are copying may already be selling into the flow your copy created.

  • Past performance is a survivor

The traders you can see on a leaderboard are the ones who won. The identical strategy that blew up is not shown next to them.

  • One wallet is not the whole picture

A trader can run several wallets and show you only the good one. Resolving every verified address a handle controls is exactly the gap FomoScan is built to close.

  • Fees and slippage are yours, not theirs

Their entry, their size and their timing are not reproducible. Your fill is your own, and on thin liquidity the difference is the whole trade.

Nothing here is financial advice. FomoScan is a read-only index — it reports what is on chain and takes no view on whether any trade is a good idea.

copy trading, answered

What is copy trading in crypto?

Copy trading means mirroring another trader’s positions instead of picking your own. In crypto it usually means following a trader on a social trading app and taking the same tokens they take. The mechanics are simple; the hard part is knowing whether the trader you are copying is who they claim to be, and whether the track record you are shown is complete.

How do I verify a trader before copy trading them?

Resolve their handle to the wallets they actually control, then read those wallets on-chain. FomoScan does the first half: search any fomo.family handle and you get their proof-verified Solana and EVM addresses. From there you can check holdings, entries and exits yourself on any block explorer.

Is copy trading profitable?

Sometimes, and not reliably. Copying transfers the trader’s decisions to you but not their entry price, position size, fee structure or timing, and you generally see a trade after it has already moved. Treat a copied trade as your own trade, sized from your own account.

Is copy trading safe for beginners?

It is not a way to avoid risk — it changes who makes the decision, not whether you can lose money. The specific risk for beginners is copying an identity that was never verified. Checking the wallet behind the handle first removes the easiest way to get fooled.

How do I find profitable traders to copy?

Start from on-chain reality rather than a leaderboard screenshot. Look up the handle, get the verified wallets, and judge the trader on positions you can independently confirm — including the trades that did not work out.

Can a trader hide losses from a leaderboard?

A trader running multiple wallets can show one and stay quiet about the others. That is why resolving every verified address a handle controls matters more than any single performance figure.

Does FomoScan execute trades or manage funds?

No. FomoScan is a read-only index. It never takes custody, never places orders, and never asks for a private key or a wallet connection. It answers one question: which on-chain addresses does this handle actually control?

Is FomoScan affiliated with fomo.family?

No. FomoScan is an independent, unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by fomo.family, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.

The same handle-to-wallet resolution behind this page is available as a REST API, so you can verify traders programmatically instead of one at a time.
